MARS MTV: Unplugged On VyRT

Happy Holidays!

Due to popular demand and some rather persistent tweets (you know who you are) we have decided to release the video for the award winning MTV Unplugged session we did not too long ago in NYC.

The plan was for the label to have it available on iTunes in time for the holidays but because of some technical snafus the deadline for delivery was missed and we were told it wouldn’t be ready until the end of January. No fun.

But, thankfully VyRT stepped in and offered to save the day.

For the very first time, VyRT is offering a Direct Download of the entire 30+ min show PLUS an extra unreleased version of ALIBI, some never before seen footage, all in glorious HD, AND on top of it – it’s here in time for the holidays as you requested! Ho Ho Ho!

This is a bit of an experiment so thanks for betting on us and trying out something new + different. We worked hard to make this extra special, I hope you enjoy it!

P.S. No commercials!!! :)

Weekly Picks From the Band

Read of the Week
When did people first start to wear jewelry or play music? When were cows domesticated and why do we feed their milk to our children? Where were the first cities and what made them succeed? Who invented math-or came up with money? The history of humanity is a history of invention and innovation, as we have continually created new items to use, to admire, or to leave our mark on the world. In this original and thought-provoking book, Neil MacGregor, director of the British Museum, has selected one hundred man-made artifacts, each of which gives us an intimate glimpse of an unexpected turning point in human civilization.

Movie of the Week
The Human Experience is a documentary film, produced by Grassroots Films, which tells the story of Jeffrey Azize and his travels, as he searches for answers to the question: what does it mean to be human? The film is divided into the three experiences, which take Jeffrey and his friends to New York, to Peru, and to Ghana. The Human Experience is rated PG-13.
Album of the Week
Yuck are an indie rockband that originated in London, England. The band features members Daniel Blumberg and Max Bloom, both of whom formerly played in the band Cajun Dance Party. The band's self-titled album was named one of the 10 Best Albums of 2011 by Rolling Stone.

Jared Leto’s Delhi Birthday
Hollywood actor Jared Leto arrived in Delhi on Tuesday morning. The "Requiem For A Dream" star, who turned 40 on Monday, celebrated his birthday in the capital on Tuesday. "On my birthday, I was on the flight.

But yes, I was looking forward to celebrating with my Indian friends, and here I am, with you all. What really surprised me was that when I was at the airport, a person came and asked for a picture with me. He actually recognised me, and I was really touched. On my way to the hotel, I kept taking pics and couldn't stop admiring the streets and people," Jared told us.

The actor, who's come to India with brotherShannon and two friends, added, "We plan to stay for a week. I think people here are very simple, warm and loving. In the day, I visited old Delhi. We went to the Red fort, enjoyed sitting in the tuk tuk and ate street food. Next, I plan to go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, after which we'd like to visit Varanasi as I've heard it's a beautiful, spiritual destination. We want to capture pictures of the aarti that happens there at night. We also plan to tour Rajasthan, mainly Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Jodhpur." That's quite an itinerary, we must say!

Jared Leto’s coming to Delhi
Piyali Dasgupta, TNN | Dec 25, 2011, 12.00AM IST

Jared Leto

Jared Leto will be coming to Delhi next week, along with his band, 30 Seconds To Mars, and he plans to spend his New Year's Eve in India, Leto spoke exclusively to DT from Los Angeles, before he left for India.

Interestingly, a few days back, Jared and his band set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Concert Tour By A Rock Band. Jared told us, "It's been hectic but, at the same time, it was exciting to have travelled to so many countries in three years. We travelled across the world, starting from China, to Lebanon, to South Africa but somehow we've always missed the opportunity to perform in India. I'm very excited about visiting the country for the first time. We've heard India's a magical country that's rich in culture. Hence, we plan to explore Jaipur, Benaras, and other places where not too many tourists go, so that we can reach the heart of India."

Ask about his birthday plans (he turns 40 tomorrow), and he shares, "I really wanted to celebrate my birthday here in India, with my friends in Delhi. But I shall make it up to them and am looking forward to hosting a special party for my friends in India. I will be visiting Delhi next week and shall not miss out on meeting my close friends, Talia and Sian Bentson, whom I've known for a decade now."

"I'm bringing my band members along with me and am exploring the possibility of doing a show in India. I wish to record some songs there and also hope to absorb some creative ideas for my book which I intend to publish soon," he adds. "I have been following Indian music. It's incredible to listen to the melodious compositions of Indian musicians." So, does he plan to sing for Bollywood movies in the future? "Why not! that would be wonderful. Bollywood movies have a huge global audience. It's great to see international artistes taking interest in Bollywood projects. So if something interesting happens, why not? I'm ready to accept it," he says.
